Message from the President

As we approach Christmas and New Years, I want to take this opportunity on behalf of the Board of Governors to wish all of you a holiday season filled with joy and happiness.
This has been a very busy and successful month at Medford Lakes Country Club. While not a lot of golf has been played, our social activities have been varied and very well attended. We have held three separate Breakfast with Santa celebrations with average attendance of 175 people. Everyone from the kids, the parents and grandparents, the staff and especially Santa had a wonderful time.
We then had two consecutive Friday nights with extremely successful parties. The Juliano Brothers were the big draw on Friday, December 10th, with almost three hundred people dining and dancing until well after midnight. We are already talking about multiple bookings for this group in 2011.
On Friday night, December 17th, both dining rooms were beautifully decorated by our House Committee members and over 140 members and their guests were treated to outstanding food and great dancing to the sounds of the Alex Glover band at the MLCC Annual Trim the Tree Holiday Party.
We are all hoping that this trend continues with the annual MLCC New Years Eve Celebration. We have held the price from last years very successful event ($65.++ per person) and will be serving Butlered Hors D'oevres starting at 7:30 PM. The main entrée will be an outstanding Surf and Turf Duet of Filet Mignon and broiled Lobster Tail. Music will be with the Doug Jennings Band. Hope to see you there.

ELECTION RESULTS
In case you did not see the results from the Election Meeting held on Saturday, December 4th, the following people were elected:
Bob Fingerhut President for a one year un-expired term
Denis McCrossan...........Kevin Ross..............Craig Farnsworth, were each elected to the Board of Governors for a three year term.
At a subsequent meeting, Craig Farnsworth was reelected to the position of Chairman of the Board.
I am also pleased to announce the following appointments as Officers of the Club:
Anthony Dent..........................................................Vice President of Men's Golf
Barbara Schwait.......................................................Vice President of Women's Golf
Norm Talbot..............................................................Vice President of Membership
Sue and Mike Traino................................................Co-Vice President's of House
These are an outstanding group of volunteers who are excited to bring a great deal of creativity to their positions and we should all look forward to a wonderful club experience for the upcoming year.
For those who are not familiar with the other members who comprise the Board of Governors, they are; Allen Barnes, Bill Coughlin, Chuck Harker, Jim Jenkins and Faythe Uminski.
This nine member Board typically meets on the third Tuesday of every month and we welcome any input or suggestions you would like to have addressed. If you would like to contact me personally, please e-mail me at bfingerhut@verizon.net or call me at 609-714-2104.

Status of Major Projects:
" Annual Dues for 2011/12
The new Budget Committee will start working within the next week to formulate the plan for next year. It is our clear objective to finalize the budget and the dues structure for 2011 as soon as possible.
" MLCC Website and Newsletter.
While this remains a very high priority, the ultimate success of this objective is tied into another major project which is to upgrade or replace our business operating systems. This Point of Sale (POS) system............which includes the touchscreens used by the bartenders and wait staff are very old and in need of serious upgrade and/or replacement. A new system would include software and hardware to provide management reports and a website alternative. We are currently meeting with various suppliers and evaluating the investment required.
In future months, we will address other projects that are already receiving attention. These include, improved service levels; more varied menus; membership initiatives; golfing event participation levels and an attractive social calendar for 2011.
In the meantime, please contact me if you have any issues you would like to see addressed.
Again, on behalf of the Board of Governors, we wish that your Christmas be filled with joy and happiness.........and that the New Year is a healthy and prosperous 2011.

Congratulations

From the Nine Holers......

We enjoyed our 9 hole scramble and closing day luncheon with the 18 holers. Congratulations to our Chairman's Cup Winner Leslie Armstrong.

Marylin Hardwick and Carolann Gilhooley tied as runners up.

Thank you to Janet Ciel for another year as our Chairman.
As always, a great job.

From the 18 Holers.....

The French and British Flags that you may have seen decorating the carts at the end of October were part of our Solheim Cup.
We divided into two teams and competed in four rounds of golf. Naturally, we had refreshments representative of the countries and headgear to match.
The end result was close, France edging out Great Britian by just one point. It was a great way to end our season.

Barbara Schwait, VP of Women's Golf
